Our founding partner, Elliot S. Schlissel, has practiced law for more than 38 years and guides all of our dedicated and experienced legal professionals in his tradition of skilled representation and outstanding client service. Elliot S. Schlissel earned a B.A. from the State University of New York at Oswego in 1972. Thereafter, he attended both Hofstra Law School and the State University of New York Law School at Buffalo, where he graduated with a J.D. in 1975. He also studied international protection of human rights at the Counsel of Europe in Strasbourg, France.
Mr. Schlissel is admitted to practice in the state of New York before the federal courts of the Eastern District of New York, the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Mr. Schlissel is listed in the Marquis’ Who’s Who of American Law; has received the highest rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Attorney’s Law Directory; has acted as the president of the Commercial Lawyers Conference of New York, a regional bar association; has been a member of the Matrimonial and Family Law committees of the New York State Bar Association, the Will Trusts & Estates Section, the Nassau County Bar Association and the Queens County Bar Association; and is a member of the Trusts, Estates & Surrogates’ Courts Committee of the New York Bar Association.
From 1978 until 1994 Mr. Schlissel represented banks including Chase Manhattan Bank, Chemical Bank, Manufactures Trust Company, Citibank and numerous other financial institutions. While representing banks he developed an expertise regarding banks internal practices. Since 1995 he has been using his bank experience to fight foreclosure lawsuits and help keep homeowners in their homes. He has published more than 400 articles and videos on his blog regarding foreclosure related issues. He is recognized as one of the leading foreclosure defense attorneys in the Metropolitan New York area.
